Announcing auditions for our 2026-2027 season:

The World’s A Stage Players (WASP) are proud to announce auditions for their upcoming 2026-2027 season! WASP is the resident Shakespeare troupe of The Concord Players. The troupe is now in its 14th year of producing Shakespeare in Concord and surrounding communities, with a team consisting of troupe members, returning players, and new faces.

We love adding new members to our ranks so please join us at auditions that will be held Sunday, May 3 and Wednesday, May 6, 2026 from 7-10 pm, with potential callbacks on Thursday, May 7, 2026. All auditions will be held at 51 Walden Street in Concord.

We will be auditioning for select roles in BOTH of our upcoming productions:

Summer 2026
Romeo & Juliet
Directed by: Mike Haddad
Performances: July 24-26 and July 30-August 2, 2026
in Concord, Maynard, and Newton, MA
(outdoors with one planned indoor performance)
Rehearsals Begin: ~ May 26, 2026

WASP is beyond excited to finally get to this one and are planning a modern production of this foundational Shakespeare work. Come for this story the world can never get enough of.

Winter 2027
Henry IV, Part 2
Directed by: Nicholas Meunier
Performances: January 15-16 and 22-23, 2027 in Concord
Rehearsals Begin: ~ November 1, 2026

Following our productions of Richard II and Henry IV, Part 1, WASP returns to Shakespeare's cycle of eight English history plays with this character study of a decaying English state, set in the mid-70’s.

The script to be used is available upon request to get a sense of the characters. (email worldsastageplayersma@gmail.com)

Auditions will consist of readings from the script, which will be sent out in advance. Headshots and resumes are welcome but certainly not necessary.

Character Descriptions

The World's A Stage Players are committed to diversity and inclusion. As such, we encourage performers of all races and ethnicities, gender identities, sexualities, and abilities to audition. We also recognize that these characters are written on the binary (use he/him or she/her pronouns) and we invite gender non-conforming, genderqueer, transgender, and non-binary actors to submit for the roles they most identify with.

Please note that the age ranges below refer to an actor's ability to portray a character of that age, and not necessarily the actor's actual age.

Please note: We will not be casting anyone under the age of 18 for roles that require onstage intimacy (i.e., Romeo and Juliet). Auditioners under 18 may audition for other roles, provided they can portray a character in the indicated age range.

Please note: In the event that anyone under the age of 18 is cast, it is the policy of the Concord Players and The World's A Stage Players that all adult (18+) cast and crew members working on the production (with the exception of house staff and orchestra) will be subject to a Massachusetts CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) search. There will be no cost to any individual cast or crew member for this search. See here for the details of our policy.

We will be auditioning for the following roles in each production (other roles have been filled by troupe members or returning players):

Romeo & Juliet

*Will be participating in stage combat

Henry IV, Part 2

Note: many of these roles may be doubled together
