Rick Shamel

A veteran of more than one hundred productions, Rick started designing and running lights in high school. Since then, he's won four EMACT lighting awards for Gypsy at Theatre III in Acton and for the Players George Washington Slept Here, South Pacific and All My Sons. Rick has also been nominated for best lighting at EMACT for the Concord Players productions of Memory of Water, Sylvia, and Sideman,  the TCAN (The Center for the Arts in Natick) production of A Piece of my Heart, and EMACT honors for Arlington Friends of the Drama production of Communicating Doors. Rick is widely known for special effects using smoke, fog, fire, and a variety of computer driven lights and instruments, many of his own design. Days, he's a senior software engineer at Marvell Semiconductor.
