Dosha Beard

 

Dosha Beard (Choir, Calpurnia understudy,) was born in Boston, and began performing as a child at the Elma Lewis School of Fine Arts. Some favorite roles have been with Up You Mighty Race Performing Arts as Sojourner Truth in Don’t You Want to be Free?, Bertha Holly in Joe Turner’s Come and Gone,Trilona Pompey in Patience of Nantucket, all directed by Akiba Abaka.

Dosha has performed with The Footlight Club as Lena Younger in A Raisin in the Sun, for which she won the EMACT 2007 Best Actress Award. She was in To Kill a Mockingbird and was Duchess de la Tremouilles in St. Joan, both at Wheelock Family Theatre.

Her Crew work includes (Assistant Stage Manager) for Intimate Apparel at The Footlight Club, and most recently (Stage Manager) of A Blessing and a Curse at Boston Playwrights’ Theatre with Spiced Wine Productions.
