Concord Players joined the West Concord Festival in the Parade with various costumes and the pumpkin coach from the Spring production of Cinderella!

The Concord Players board met on Aug. 15 and again, it was a very lively and productive meeting.  Hard to believe that so much business keeps going on when it’s supposed to be vacation time!

Marlene Mandel had some very wonderful news in that our production of Spitfire Grill has been nominted for 11! DART nominations, and Cinderella for 4!.  If you’d like to attend that gala when the awards will be made, (Sept. 28)contact Marlene for more information.

More good news is that, according to our worthy treasurer, Myron reports that all our finances are in order and that we’re in fine shape notwithstanding the great expenses of the renovation (which, by the way, is still on target/budget).

We now have two producers, David Atwood and Peggy Elliot, for the Spring production of She Loves Me.

There has been some confusion about program ads, so the board defined some outlines for procedures regarding such; briefly, that all program ads must be approved by, and go through, Pam Sturgis (Comm. Chmn.) or Bill Maxwell (Prod. Supervisor). And in the same vein, it was reiterated that only the producers may authorize complimentary tickets.

Tom Sullivan reported for the Play/Director Selection Comm., and their hope is to have some play selections for our approval by January 2007.  Tom handed out some lists of plays as well as a list of the last 30 years of Players productions.  There was also discussion on ways to glean audience input re play selections.

Some “Players Family” news:

Bob Runck is playing the trial judge in a new play, Patience of Nantucket, going up at the Boston Center for the Arts Sept 7 through 23.

Leslie Wagner and Shana Dirik are both in the upcoming Burlington production of Neal Simon's California Suite running Sept 15 thru 30.

Our best wishes to Lori Livermore, who, on Sept. 9 will celebrate her wedding to Mr. Bruce Hack.  The props crew all gathered for lunch to launch Lori – anything for a party!  And our best wishes and get-well thoughts to our dear Sheryl Blair who recently underwent surgery.  Sheryl, get back here!  And some theatre news, Patricia Till is performing on Nantucket this summer, in Over the River and Through the Woods.  If you’re lucky enough to get to the island, go see!
