Set in lat 1920's Chicago during the jazz age, the story follows two women, Velma Kelly, a small time vaudeville hoofer and Roxie Hart, who aspires to the spotlight. They meet in the Cook County Jail where they, along with the other "Merry Murderesses" explain why their significant others "had it comin..."
